what is the difference between allegra d and zyrtec d? I am currently on allegra d and it isn't working! My pre ion plan will only cover zyrtec d or allegra d. Just wondering what the difference is and if zyrtec d will work for me or if it is the same as allegra d?

Try taking vitamin C 500 mg and pantothenic acid 500 mg daily for allergy relief. it helps some folks. Good luck."

zenithkid replied: "Previous answer from pharmacist is correct. Both contain pseudoephedrine, a decongestant that relieves stuffy noses by draining nasal passages. But they each contain a different anti histamine. Both are combination products, an anti histamine with a decongestant. Hence the brand names X-D....Y-D. D for Decongestant. Some people have better results with one anti histamine, others do better on others. Use the combination product only if you have nasal congestion, otherwise, the single ingredient products Zyrtec and Allegra are all you need."

Can/should I take Amoxicillin & Allegra D at the same time? I have a severe head cold and my doctor sent me home with both of those pre ions (in addition to three others) last night. I'm hearing, though, that I shouldn't be on Amoxicillin & Allegra D (or any allergy medicine) at the same time.

I'm wondering what the other 3 are, though. That's a lot of meds to take just for a head cold. And if it's just a cold, why are you on antibiotics??"

suzywat replied: "Obviously, if your doctor gave you a pre ion for amoxicillin, he/she believes you have a sinus infection or some other bacterial infection, like strep, and not just a head cold. (which is viral) My mother is just coming out of a tough bout of bronchitis and sinusitis and her physician gave her both of those medications too. I don't know if the Allegra was "D" or not, but she took both for 10 days and it didn't bother her. Good Luck."

Can I take Mucinex D and allegra together? I have a pre ion for allegra but my throat is real sore and mucusy and also I have sinus pain. I have been taking Allegra during day and benadryl at night. Also, do you think that too many antihistimine are hurting my sinuses? I am miserable right now please help! Also it feels like my lymp nodes are swollen...this whole thing started on Friday night when my mouth started itching like crazy

Is there a generic available for Allegra D 12 hour? My employer just switched insurance providers and our pre ion program is tiered, so that generics cost you practically nothing, but name-brand drugs cost you either $35 or $50. I have a lot of allergies and one of my allergy meds is Allegra D. I just switched my to the 12-hour, because I saw that the FDA had approved a generic (fexofenadine HCL/pseudoephedrine HCL extended release). But when I went to pick up my yesterday, I had to pay the full $50 because according to the pharmacist, there is no generic available. So what's the deal? I can't afford $50 a month for one pre ion!

I usually take a generic Claritin D 24 hour. Seems to work for me! There are many different generic brands of the D 24 hour."

Sparkles Dr. would not be giving her a generic form of allegra d as generic companies do not sample products to the Dr. The generic name will be on the package. You can get generic Allegra and take Sudafed (or generic) with the allegra to get same effect."

Go to a large pharmacy, and look at the back of the antihistamine/allergy medicine boxes and compare ingredients. Pick the one that matches EXACTLY. The price will be much better!!! I am a Nurse..... Kaci replied: "just b/c the fda has approved a drug, doesnt mean they can make it yet. a lot of times drug companies buy out the patent for a certain drug which means only they can produce that certaini name brand drug for a certain amount of years. and then once the patent runs out, the drug companies can start making a generic product. and i've even come in to things where the doctor might tell a patient theres a new generic available for a name brand drug, but the drug might not make it to the pharmacy for another 6 months to a year. generic drugs have to go through a lot of testing and legal junk before they can be sent to stores and pharmacies. if you cant afford the money for the brand name allegra d 12, just get the regular plain allegra generic "fexofenadine" then pick up a pack of OTC Sudafed, or the generic store brand "pseudoephedrine" for a couple of bucks at the pharmacy and take them together, sure its two pills but it will be cheaper that way especailly if your insurance charges a cheap generic copay like 5-10 dollars. and the generic store brand sudafed is like 4 or 5 dollars most of the time. talk to your doctor and pharmacist about making this change to save you some money before the generic allegra d 12 hour hits the shelves, probably sometime late this year or early nexty year. good luck to ya. :)"

Can I take Allegra D if I am already taking Singulair? My seasonal spring allergies tend to get pretty severe. I was given a shot to subdue my congestion, however, I still sneeze excessively and my eyes easily become irritated and red. I was also written a pre ion of Singulair after I told the doctor that my Allegra D was not working. Now it seems the Allegra D actually worked better. It hasn't been very long, so should I stick with the Singulair and wait it out, or could I take both medicines at once? I should probably ask a doctor? huh?

I went to my doctor today about seasonal allergies and she prescribed both Singulair 24 hour and Allegra D 12 hour along with a nasal spray all to be taken together. Do you think it's bad to take pre ion antihistamines once in a great while during pregnancy? I have Allegra-D which I stopped taking daily when I thought I may be pregnant, I took one today, only because I was feeling really bad...is it bad to do that, or should I just consult my doc?
