Barberry replied: "Yes you can take both. One is an antibiotic, the other is for your cold symptoms. There's no reason you can't take both at the same time. I'm wondering what the other 3 are, though. That's a lot of meds to take just for a head cold. And if it's just a cold, why are you on antibiotics??"
suzywat replied: "Obviously, if your doctor gave you a pre ion for amoxicillin, he/she believes you have a sinus infection or some other bacterial infection, like strep, and not just a head cold. (which is viral)
My mother is just coming out of a tough bout of bronchitis and sinusitis and her physician gave her both of those medications too. I don't know if the Allegra was "D" or not, but she took both for 10 days and it didn't bother her. Good Luck."
Can I take Mucinex D and allegra together? I have a pre ion for allegra but my throat is real sore and mucusy and also I have sinus pain. I have been taking Allegra during day and benadryl at night. Also, do you think that too many antihistimine are hurting my sinuses? I am miserable right now please help!
Also it feels like my lymp nodes are swollen...this whole thing started on Friday night when my mouth started itching like crazy
cwhitneyRN replied: "You can take Mucinex/dextromethorphan together with plain Allegra and Allegra-D. Make sure the Mucinex contains no pseudoephedrine/phenylephrine though if you do use it with Allegra-D. -Chad, RN"
Is there a generic available for Allegra D 12 hour? My employer just switched insurance providers and our pre ion program is tiered, so that generics cost you practically nothing, but name-brand drugs cost you either $35 or $50. I have a lot of allergies and one of my allergy meds is Allegra D. I just switched my to the 12-hour, because I saw that the FDA had approved a generic (fexofenadine HCL/pseudoephedrine HCL extended release). But when I went to pick up my yesterday, I had to pay the full $50 because according to the pharmacist, there is no generic available. So what's the deal? I can't afford $50 a month for one pre ion!
Sparkles replied: "The pharmacist is not very knowlegable about this. Not only have I received the generic form of it from my doctor last month when I was sick with my allergies, here is a link for you to print out and take with you to contest what you were told. Sounds very fishy to me. You also need to contact your insurance carrier and tell them what you encountered from this pharmacy."
the v girl replied: "Have you ever thought about D 24 hour? I dont think there is a deneric Allegra D 12 hour. i think i have asked for it before just to try it and they said they did not have one. I usually take a generic Claritin D 24 hour. Seems to work for me! There are many different generic brands of the D 24 hour."
Mark E replied: "Generic Allegra D 12 hours is not available in the U.S., generic Claritin D 24 hours is available behind the pharmacy counter but you will have to ask for it. Sparkles Dr. would not be giving her a generic form of allegra d as generic companies do not sample products to the Dr. The generic name will be on the package. You can get generic Allegra and take Sudafed (or generic) with the allegra to get same effect."
mortician replied: "Look at the ingredients on the box or insert paper, you have from your pre ion.
Go to a large pharmacy, and look at the back of the antihistamine/allergy medicine boxes and compare ingredients. Pick the one that matches EXACTLY. The price will be much better!!!
I am a Nurse.....

Kaci replied: "just b/c the fda has approved a drug, doesnt mean they can make it yet.
a lot of times drug companies buy out the patent for a certain drug which means only they can produce that certaini name brand drug for a certain amount of years. and then once the patent runs out, the drug companies can start making a generic product. and i've even come in to things where the doctor might tell a patient theres a new generic available for a name brand drug, but the drug might not make it to the pharmacy for another 6 months to a year. generic drugs have to go through a lot of testing and legal junk before they can be sent to stores and pharmacies.
if you cant afford the money for the brand name allegra d 12, just get the regular plain allegra generic "fexofenadine" then pick up a pack of OTC Sudafed, or the generic store brand "pseudoephedrine" for a couple of bucks at the pharmacy and take them together, sure its two pills but it will be cheaper that way
especailly if your insurance charges a cheap generic copay like 5-10 dollars. and the generic store brand sudafed is like 4 or 5 dollars most of the time.
talk to your doctor and pharmacist about making this change to save you some money before the generic allegra d 12 hour hits the shelves, probably sometime late this year or early nexty year.
good luck to ya. :)"
Can I take Allegra D if I am already taking Singulair? My seasonal spring allergies tend to get pretty severe. I was given a shot to subdue my congestion, however, I still sneeze excessively and my eyes easily become irritated and red. I was also written a pre ion of Singulair after I told the doctor that my Allegra D was not working. Now it seems the Allegra D actually worked better. It hasn't been very long, so should I stick with the Singulair and wait it out, or could I take both medicines at once? I should probably ask a doctor? huh?
Michelle replied: "ask the doctor or pharmacist."
Nicole H replied: "no not some time call dr

karen replied: "you can take both... i do every sing year during pollen season... the Singulair just doesn't quite hack it alone, but with the Allegra it helps! Good luck, hope you feel better!"
maggie replied: "Yes, you can take both at the same time. I went to my doctor today about seasonal allergies and she prescribed both Singulair 24 hour and Allegra D 12 hour along with a nasal spray all to be taken together. I had my suspicions as well and double checked it with my pharmacist when I dropped off the pre ion. He confirmed that it is in fact okay to take these medications simultaneously."
Do you have allergies? What do you use? ? I have really bad seasonal allergies.
And they are getting really bad this year.
I've tried
-Pre ion Allegra D
-Claritin
-Afren Nasal Spray
-Zyrtec
-Benedril
But none of them work effectively.
What do you use for your allergies?
nemeczek replied: "zyrtec and claritin work for me"
Sami replied: "Same here I need help
Sorry but tell me if you get the right answer"
Renie replied: "Go to the health food store and purchase a osha-eyebright herb tincture and echnichea-golden seal tincture 15 to 20 drops of each in a cup of water. Micro for how long you like to drink your coffee or tea. Drink a cup every four hours until you will feel relief.
You may also want to be examined by an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist to be sure you do not have a deviated septum which could be the root of your troubles."
Charles M replied: "Nasacort steroidal nasal spray, generic Zyrtec, and Benadryl as a stand-by. Was using Tavist, but could only buy at CVS"
amberrrr replied: "I am allergic to cats, some dogs, dust and have hayfever therefore I am rather unlucky. I have a cat and I cannot bear to get rid of her so I just have to live with it.
Basically I use shops own brand antihistamines as they are cheaper and basically the same. I tend to use the ones containing cetrizine hydrochloride.
My hands take allergic reactions from time to time and break out in itchy blisters and a rash I tend to use Benadryl skin allergy lotion this helps instantly.
I basically clean my house everyday aswell as a preventative measure."

Do you think it's bad to take pre ion antihistamines once in a great while during pregnancy? I have Allegra-D which I stopped taking daily when I thought I may be pregnant, I took one today, only because I was feeling really bad...is it bad to do that, or should I just consult my doc?
Due 09/14/2009 ! replied: "Always consult your doc"
Oldie Hawn replied: "Yes, it speeds up the baby's heart - it is bad.
Talk to your doc."
meatball's girl replied: "You should never take ANYTHING without consulting with your dr first."
youngandinlove. replied: "honestly, taking anything could be bad. whatever you ingest goes straight to your baby. if you want to be extra positive talk to your doctor. but i highly doubt it. babies are very small and sensitive to that stuff. the littlest dosage could really mess them up."
animal32306 replied: "I don't know about Allegra. I would call and ask the doctor. I know they told me I could take Claritin and sudaphed, but that's the only ones they have told me for sure can be taken while pregnant."
Where can I get Claritan D for my Seasonal Allergies? I usually take Allegra, but ran out. I've heard Claritan D works 24 hours and helps allergies.
Do I need a pre ion for Claritan D or Can I just buy it at my local pharmacy or grocery store?
Btw, How much is for one box?
supermoren02130 replied: "in the pharmacy"
Lardo Taco replied: "Nope its available without pre ion now. Just go to your pharmacy. It's like $10-$12 for a box of 10 pills I believe."
SrH Controversy replied: "your doctor.
Or just steal a per ion pad and write it out yourself lol"
Mrs. Piggy replied: "Walgreen"
ironmtnangel replied: "It's over the counter now. I don't know the price."
Anna G replied: "Walgreens.
7.00$"
Grin Reeper replied: "no pre ion goto walmart"
hpostle replied: "Pharmacies have over the counter allergy medicine and if you need stronger doses you can get a per ion from your primary care doctor."
mimi replied: "cvs pharmacy"
I am so smrt. replied: "It is like 15 bucks or something. It is over the counter. No pre ion needed."
noodles replied: "anywhere"
Court replied: "I know that you can get it just about anywhere. I know that walmart has it."
Lauribug replied: "Pretty sure you can get it behind the counter at your local pharmacy. You do have to show ID, however."
tuliakid replied: "No pre ion needed. Cheapest at Sam's Club or Walmart. I take it. It's not cheap!"
Cutie pie Savannah replied: "Go to walmart you can get alot for like 4 bucks!!"
Jay R replied: "No, you do not need a pre ion, but typically you will have to go to the desk and ask for it. Prices vary depending on number of tablets you are looking for."
what is the best medicine for children's sinus blockage? can i give 8 year old have tablet of pre ion allegra-D
Malik replied: "id prefer that you do not give it to your child.. when it comes to children, dosages can vary depending on their weight. so even if you half the pre ion, that dose can still be too high.. try benadryl or mucinex.."
casdave2001 replied: "You could read the package. It usually will say the doses for age ranges. You'd want to check with his/her doctor. Or ask a pharmacist.
God bless and I hope your child feels better soon."
Miss Mona replied: "the package usually indicates but if its not allergies why not try saline drops you can make them at home and most docs prefer them over meds. another thing is if your doc office has an on call nurse give them a call."

BunnyFooFoo replied: "unless a doctor had diagnosed you with allergies DO NOT TAKE MEDICATION FOR IT."
teaser_1970 replied: "I have used Allegra now for 3 years and wouldn't live w/o it! It is by pre ion only, but worth it!"
Torrin Wolffe replied: "DON'T TAKE MEDICATIONS WITHOUT DOCTOR APPROVAL...
